Stone house

The stone work in this structure was done about thirty years ago, but the roof had fallen in and the walls had fractured over time. We pulled the walls back together and and built up from there, first constructing a loft and then a 30 inch knee wall to support the new gable roof. We used slate shingles on the roof and rough-sawn shiplap pine for the siding and exterior trim.

Porch Restoration

Restored the porch on this 1795 bed & breakfast in Ashfield, Massachusetts.
The Inn at Norton Hill is located across from Elmer's Store on Norton Hill Road in the center of the village.

Filming Studio Renovation

This is a barn in Buckland, Mass that was formerly used for apple storage, which we converted to a filming studio. The renovation included new siding, windows, doors, roof trim and decks on the exterior. The interior renovation included a new kitchen, bath, open studio, stairway, horizontal shiplap pine on the walls, as well as a sixty foot beam and several posts to support the existing roof framing.

Cape renovation

In the summer of 2007, I began working as lead carpenter on a cape renovation in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The contractor/homeowner decided to gut the 19th century cape, create two additions (master bedroom and entry), and to renovate the original structure based on a 1695 cape in Williamsburg, VA. The exterior trim details that were replicated include the beaded clapboards, decorative end-blocks at the base of the gable trim, 8/4 frieze board that serves as the head casing for the windows, and the dental blocks trimmed with crown moulding that are applied to the face of the frieze.

Custom wooden bridge

This is an arched wooden bridge that I designed and built in 2008. The carrying beams are 24' White Oak timbers milled at Cowl's Building Supply in North Amherst, MA. The bridge is trimmed out with Western Red Cedar and the bench I built out of Red Cedar as well.
